152. Black Percher – Diplacodes lefebvrii – European Dragonfly photo
The Black Percher ( Diplacodes lefebvrii ) has a foothold in mainland Europe being found in Portugal, Spain and Turkey, usually at sites near to the coast. They are quite aggressive little dragonflies.
The Laguna beyond Jerez in Spain featured in the type habitat is also home for the equally scarce Long Skimmer – Orthetrum trinacria.
KEY I/D FEATURES
Mature males appear all black and the frons has a purple sheen. The wings have large pterostigma with rounded tips.Teneral males are somewhat similar to females being straw coloured with a little yellow colouring at the wing bases.
